Osteoarthritis and Fatigue

Fatigue is common in a lot of conditions.  For some reason, doctors have not given a great deal of attention to fatigue in osteoarthritis.  This was mentioned in a paper published in a journal called Biomed Central Musculoskeletal Disorders in 2008.

This study, conducted in Toronto, Canada, found that the levels of fatigue experienced by people with osteoarthritis was somewhere between that experienced by cancer patients with and without anemia (anemia being a common source of fatigue linked to various deficiencies that affect blood).

Many people find that the fatigue of living with arthritis can vary from frustrating to overwhelming.  It may be further compounded by the likelihood that you have few people who want to hear about your experience of living with such fatigue.  Also, many doctors are unclear about how to best treat or support the fatigue associated with many health conditions.
